In Memoriam – Bruce Vrieland

We lost to a tragic motorcycle accident RNHB member and our long time friend Bruce Vrieland. We are going to sorely miss him and his Tuba and Bass Trombone.

Bruce Calvin Vrieland
7/6/1942 – 2/23/2012

Bruce Calvin Vrieland, 69, died February 23, 2012 in a motorcycle accident. He was born on July 6, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jack and Natalie Vrieland. He received degrees from Calvin College, University of Michigan, and Georgia Tech. He was an Electrical Engineer for Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technology. Currently he worked as a computer specialist for JCS.He was married to Sharon Tuinstra Vrieland for 45 years. He is survived by two brothers, Curtis and Ed Vrieland; wife, Sharon; two children, Jeffrey Marc Vrieland and wife, Carol; and ‘Daddy’s Little Girl,’ Vonda Joy Vrieland; and two grandsons, Andrew James (AJ) and Nathan Luke.He enjoyed playing the Tuba and Bass Trombone in numerous musical groups, spending time with his grandsons and family, listening to Classical music, reading, singing, and playing the piano.Bruce Vrieland loved the Lord. One of many Bible verses he had over his desk is Psalm 31: 14-15a (NIV): But I trust in You, O Lord! I declare, “You are my God!” You determine my destiny!A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 1 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Mount Paran Church of God, 2055 Mount Paran Road, NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30327. There will be a reception following the service at the Church.

The Memorial Service was full to overflowing with Bruce’s family and friends. Moving remembrances were shared by his wife Sharon and his son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Vonda Joy. The program for the service is included below:
