Marla Feeney

MarlaFeeneyselfie1

Marla Feeney holds a Bachelor of Music from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Master of Arts degree from University of Iowa. She is a multi-instrumentalist with over 25 years of professional experience. Prior to moving to Atlanta, she freelanced professionally, taught privately, and served as an adjunct faculty member at several mid-western colleges. Marla was a theater musician and staff arranger in Branson, Mo. for three years, and briefly worked as a cruise ship musician for Norwegian Cruise Line.

Upon moving to Atlanta in 2000, Marla began teaching private lessons and freelancing in the metro area. In 2003, she started her own studio, Sandpiper Music Studio, in Marietta, where she currently teaches her private students. There are several other music teachers using her facility. See her studio website for her instrument lists and background education.

In 2005, Marla became involved with starting the East Cobb New Horizons Band at the local senior center. She conducted the group for two years. Her affiliation with the New Horizons organization continued as she served as an instructor at two of the New Horizons Band Camps and was available as a substitute conductor for Bob Martin, founder of the Roswell New Horizons Bands. Ms. Feeney served as full-time conductor for the group, from the time Bob Martin retired until December 31, 2018.

In addition to teaching and conducting, Marla plays and records frequently with a number of groups in Atlanta. She can be heard performing with The Bonaventure Quartet (a gypsy swing group), The New Anatolian Experience (a Turkish influenced jazz fusion group), Society Express (a party and event band), Tom Woods & Friends (800 East Studios), The Alliance Theater (various musical productions), and occasionally with the Rome Symphony (Georgia’s oldest symphony orchestra), and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra (Leonard & Dorothy Altieri).
