Minutes of 8/4/11 Meeting of Executive Committee

Roswell New Horizons Band

A meeting of the Executive Committee (the “Committee”) of the Roswell New Horizons Bands (the “Bands”) was held at the Adult Recreation Center in Roswell, Georgia on Thursday, August 4, 2011, beginning at approximately 2:40 PM.  Present at the meeting were Committee members Jon Andersen, Art Geist, John Lauer, Al Loebe, Jack Jennings, Jimmy St. John, Mitzi O’Connell, Art O’Conner and Bob Warner. Also present was the Bands’ music director, Bob Martin. RARC Director Mary Rummell joined the meeting while it was in progress.

Mr. St. John, the Bands President, called the meeting to order.  The minutes of the previous meeting, having been earlier distributed, were approved.

Mr. Geist presented the Treasurer’ Report for the month of June, 2011 which reflected total income for the month of $1,060.00; total expenses of $681.19, and as of July 31, 2011, funds on-hand of $14,038.24 in the Bands’ regular account and $2,851.31 in the Band Camp Account. Upon motion made and seconded the Treasurer’s Report was unanimously approved.

Mr. St. John inquired as to whether anyone had attended the most recent Roswell City Council’s meeting and was advised that none of the Committee members had attended.

Mr. Jennings reported that the password for the Band’s website was:

RNHB2009

He also noted that several biographies had been received and would be posted. Band Members are reminded that all information in the biography will be public information. The band roster with addresses and telephone numbers and spouse’s names will be password protected.

Mr. Jennings then distributed two versions of the proposed Bands brochure and the Committee chose the one for printing.  Mr. Jennings noted that he would make the changes suggested by the Committee, email the revision to the Committee and proceed to get estimated printing costs.

Mr. O’Conner reported that he had secured a gig for the Concert Band at Chambrell Assisted Living on August 16th at 7:00 PM.  Because of limited space, there would be a sign up sheet to play the concert.

Ms. O’Connell distributed a form she had prepared to assist her and others in seeking and arranging gigs for the Bands.  Ms. O’Connell suggested that each Bands Member be requested to arrange one gig of a gig contact for the Bands.  The gigs would be coordinated by Mr. O’Conner to ensure availability of musicians, director and avoidance of conflicts.

Mr. Martin noted that through the staff of Ellijay’s TV station, that professional quality recording equipment might be available to record a performance of the Bands.

There being no further business co come before the Committee, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously approved, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 3:10 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
